Liftmaster 3800 Installation Instructions: Install Safety Sensors.
Posted by: | CommentsThe next step is to install the safety sensors of the Liftmaster 3800 garage door opener.
As an added bonus Dave shows an extra step that we take help to prevent accidentally disconnecting the wire. We simply create a “pigtail or strain relief” coil…watch the video for details.
Next attach the safety eye to the “snappy bracket” using the bolt and wing nut provided.
In the next step, simply clip the safety sensor bracket to the track. You’ll notice that Dave uses the bottom door clip as a guide for height. When he attaches the other sensor to the opposite side of the track he’ll use the bottom door clip once again to ensure an even installation and lining up of the sensor beam.
Please remember to refer to your Owner’s Manual in addition to this video.

Liftmaster 3800 Installation Instructions: Install the Cable Tension Monitor.
Posted by: | CommentsNext in the Liftmaster 3800 installation videos we will install the cable tension monitor.
The cable tension monitor is a safety feature that ensures consistent tension on the door. As you’ll see in the video, you might need to use a wooden block to bring the tension monitor flush with the door frame.
In the video Dave demonstrates how this unit works.
We hope you’ll find this instructional video series to be helpful. Don’t forget, the Owners Manual is still the best resource for installation instructions. You might find it helpful to follow along in the manual as you watch these vices.

Liftmaster 3800 Installation Instructions: Connecting or Terminating The Wires.
Posted by: | CommentsIn this video we will connect all of the wires to the Liftmaster 3800 motor unit.
The first step is to route the wires from the safety sensors, the cable tension monitor, the lock mechanism, and the smart control panel to the Liftmaster 3800 unit. As noted in the video it’s a best practice to use crown staples to fasten the wires to the door frame so they look neat and don’t get pinched.
Next Dave will open the lid of the 3800 control unit and begin to terminate the wires to the terminal strip in the unit. In addition to using this video as reference please refer to the LIftmaster 3800 Owner’s Manual to ensure proper wire connections.
Once the wires are properly connected you can then plug in the Liftmaster 3800. Then re-connect the disconnect of the unit.

Posted by: | CommentsIn this video we’ll complete the set up of the Liftmaster 3800 garage door opener ensuring that the upper and lower limits are properly set, as well as the force adjustment.
In the first step Dave slides out the plastic protector in the 3 button remote to activate the unit.
Next Dave will set the travel limits of the garage door. Please follow the video instructions and refer to your Owner’s Manual.
First Dave will set the limits of the “Up Position” of the door.
- Press and hold the black button until the yellow indicator light starts flashing.
- Press and hold the black button until the door reaches its desired up position. Please ensure that you set the door high enough for your vehicle to travel under.
- Next press the remote control or smart panel button which will set the door and begin the door decending.
- Push the purple button which will stop the door and you’re now able to set the down position. Push and hold the purple button until the door reaches the desired down position. Preferably with an even seal along the bottom of the door.
- Push the remote control or smart panel which will set the down limit of the door and will begin to open the door.
Once the upper and lower limits have been set, we need to set the force adjustment.
- Push the purple button twice until the LED light starts flashing.
- Then push the door remote control to the down position. That will set the closed force.
- Once again push the remote (open) button which will set the open force.
- Finally hit the (close) button on the remote control to close the door.
Check the LED indicator light to see if it has stopped flashing. If so, the door limits and force adjustments have been set.
