Garage Door Shopping? Check the Garage Door Weather Stripping!
Posted by: | CommentsMany people ask us about the R value of our steel insulated garage doors.
Although that is a very important consideration when shopping for a garage door, a lot of folks forget about an equally important part of the garage door and
that is the garage door weather seal system.
Some of the important areas to ensure a proper garage door weather stripping system are;
- A good heavy rubber seal on the bottom of the garage door that’s designed to last for several years, but can also be easily replaced when it does wear out.
- A weather stripping seal in between the garage door sections. The best doors will have a double seal in between each of the door sections to minimize air flow between the garage door panels.
- There should also be a good garage door weather stripping around the perimeter of the garage door. Our garage doors use a double fin weather seal that compresses up against the door when it’s closed to provide a good seal. For long term use it’s important that these seals are able to withstand extreme heat and cold for a long period of time. It’s also important that your garage door weather seal can easily be replaced when it eventually wears out.

Broken Garage Door Spring: “Not A Do-It-Yourself Garage Door Repair!”
Posted by: | CommentsWe often get customers asking questions about their broken garage door torsion springs. Many call to confirm that their spring is in fact broken when their door isn’t working. The big question is why does this happen in the first place!
There are others who call in to get some advice of how to fix a broken torsion spring on their garage door. We really don’t recommend that you treat this garage door repair as a do-it-yourself project. The counter balance system of a garage door is very sensitive and there can be several problems created as a result of an incorrect spring replacement.
Here’s a full explanation that I hope will help.
Garage Doors: Are You Looking For Black Garage Doors?
Posted by: | CommentsAre you looking for a black garage door?
We often get folks calling in to get a black garage door, you see they are very hard to come by. You see currently there are no manufacturers making polyurethane insulated steel doors in black.
Although all new garage doors are paintable you might want not want to do that since it will likely void the manufacturers finish warranty which can be lifetime for the better quality garage doors.
The manufacturers will tell you that they just don’t get any demand for black garage doors, but that’s not the case at all. We get quite a few folks asking about black doors.
So why don’t’ they make them?
Watch the short video below for what I hope will be a good explanation.
In the meantime for an alternate colour of garage door, why not give me a call. I’d be happy to help you out, and I’m sure we’ll find a colour that will be just right for your home.
